These terms apply when you use Umber Portrait or buy anything from us.
What we sell
A portrait AI-created from your photo, reviewed by our team, and printed by professional print partners, supplied as a digital file or a print. It is not a hand-painted original and is not represented as one anywhere on this site.
Your photos
By uploading a photo you confirm that:
- you own it or have permission from whoever does;
- everyone identifiable in it has agreed to this use;
- it does not depict a minor in any sexualised context, a real public figure you have no right to use, or copyrighted characters or brand marks.
You grant us a limited licence to process that photo in order to make your portrait, and for no other purpose. Uploads are deleted after 30 days.
What you get
A personal-use licence to print, display, and share your own portrait. You may not resell it, license it, or use it as a trade mark or brand asset. We retain the copyright in the generated artwork; you own no rights in the styles or prompts themselves.
We will not publish or sell your portrait, and will not use it in marketing unless you ask us to.
What we may refuse
We may decline or cancel any order, with a full refund, where a request involves hateful, sexual, deceptive or illegal content, a real public figure, or copyrighted characters. We may also decline where the photo is simply not good enough to produce something we are willing to put our name on.
Free previews
Free previews are limited per visitor and per 24-hour window, and carry a visible watermark. Attempting to bypass those limits, remove the watermark, or automate access is a breach of these terms and may end in your access being blocked.
Prices, payment and delivery
Prices are shown in US dollars, or pounds sterling for UK visitors, and include free delivery. Payment is taken by Stripe; we do not handle card details. Delivery estimates are estimates, not guarantees. See shipping and returns.
Changes and refunds
The returns policy forms part of these terms. Made-to-order prints cannot be cancelled once in production; faulty or damaged items are reprinted or refunded.
Liability
We are liable for the price you paid, and for anything the law does not allow us to exclude — including death or personal injury caused by negligence, and fraud. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Consumers may also rely on the mandatory protections of the country in which they live.
